Downloaded excel file corrupted

    WordPress version: 4.9.6
    Running PHP version: 5.6.36

    I’ve installed this plugin from the add new plugin in WordPress. When I download the excel file for any forms and open it I get the following error message:

    The file format and extension of the file don’t match. The file could be corrupted.

    Also, does this happen to every form or just the one? If it’s just one, it could be due to some malformed content. Otherwise, I think it could be that the file also exports some (php)error-code next to the xls-code, so excel itself doesn’t recognize the full code als valid xls.

    Can you try opening the xls-file with a code-editor or notepad, and see if there is a readable error message. If so, please share this error.

    What you could then try is to disable ALL error messages error_reporting(0);.

    I’ve tried the plugin with 4 forms. I run into the issue every time.

    I could not find any error code. I even tried disabling all error messages but it didn’t help at all.

    Hm, weird. It seems like the excel-file is being rendered as it should be.
    The plugin uses a library called phpspreadsheet to actually render the xls. It looks like it’s going wrong in that department.

    I’ve read that this behavior could be related to the php-zip version. Please read this reply: https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/excel-download-link-does-not-work/#post-10314978.

    If at all possible, try and re-istall php-zip. If it still doesn’t work, would you be willing to send me one of those corrupted files?

    I have dicoverd the same problem. I used the Plugin for two week and all was Great (PS. real good Plugin!) but since today I get the same message as dthekkinkad01!
    and i have no idea how I can solve the Problem. Looking forward for your help.

    My Versions:

    GF = 2.3.6
    PHP Version is = 7.2.10
    and WP = 4.9.8
