• Hi,
i’m using the latest version of wordpress. I downloaded a maintenance page plugin to disable my site for a time and when I tried to deactivate it, my site was gone. Is there a way to pull it back up again?

  • How did you try to deactivate the plugin?

    Hi,
there were two blue radio buttons that said ‘activate’ and ‘deactivate’. When I first activated the plugin, I noticed that the features were greyed out and I couldn’t work on the site. So I went to click the button to ‘deactivate’ the plugin and basically the site was gone. I tried to restore it, but because someone else built it, I don’t know if they had a backup. I then uninstalled the maintenance plugin and still no sign of the original site.

Using an FTP tool such as FileZilla or your web hosts file manager:

    1. Rename that plugins folder to old-pluginname. (will be in folder root/wp-content/plugins)
    2. Look in root for a file named .maintenance, if it exists rename it to another name.
    3. Clear local cache. If using a cache plugin, rename that plugin folder also.
    4. View site. If site runs, go back and then delete the maintenance plugin and rename the caching plugin back.
