    How do I either unload jetpack or fix the problem?

    Last week I updated all of my plugins. Over the weekend I noticed that our websites pages had no or little content. Since I manage the website and do not know any coding we had to pay $40 to get a backup restored. Yesterday I went through the website and was updating the plugins one-by-one. When I just installed the update to 2.9 for the jetpack, my company’s website went down again. At least I know that the problem is Jetpack. I went through your troubleshooting list and everything else works fine except Jetpack.

    Someone please help me fix this so we don’t have to pay more money. I tried going through support, but no word yet. I need to get my website back up. Then we need to decide if this is really worth our using.

    Thank you!

    Also, I have our website on “under construction” mode, which is why I didn’t send a link to it.

    Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins except Jetpack to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

    I tried installing the 2012 theme, but that looks funky because we have a custom theme. But not all the content shows up on that either, so I’m assuming it’s jetpack.

    I will try deactivating the other plugins.

    Ok. I deactivated all my other plugins with only jetpack being activated, but nothing changed.

    What else?

    Without your site’s URL it will be hard to troubleshoot much further. For the time being, delete the /jetpack/ folder via FTP. If the source of the problem truly was Jetpack, that should restore your site’s functionality. Since you mentioned that you contacted us through support (and I hope you included your URL in your csupport request), we’ll take a look once we get to your ticket.

    This is so frustrating because I have no idea what I’m doing…

    I think I deleted jetpack. I deleted the files through my website, but looked at my control panel, file manager and could not find the files there. So I am assuming that they are deleted. However, no my website is not back up. I have played with it so much within the last 2 days to figure out what is happening that I do not know if it something else now.

    I took construction mode off our website…www.kenagyassociates.com
    Sorry but I don’t have time to wait for my ticket to be called.

    Hi,

    I took a look at your site. You’re right, Jetpack does appear to be deleted, as this gives me a 404:

    https://kenagyassociates.com/wp-content/plugins/jetpack/readme.txt

    I looked at your site’s source, and for every page, I see this:

    <div class="content">
    				<div class="cnt">
    					<div class="post-16 page type-page status-publish hentry post">
    											</div>
    				</div>
    				<!-- end of cnt -->

    				<div class="cl">&nbsp;</div>
    			</div>
    			<!-- end of content -->

    So the structure is there, just not the content. In the post editor for your pages, do you see any content there at all? I am trying to determine if it’s simply not appearing, or if somehow the content is being deleted from your database. Either way, I am hard-pressed to explain how Jetpack could be responsible for this. Could you ask your host for any error logs that they can provide? Ideally they’d be PHP error logs, and ideally, they’d be from around the time you updated Jetpack, but I’ll take anything you can get.

    Well… structure and content are there. It just depends on what page you’re looking at.

    1. My blog posts are fine. They show up in both places.
    2. However, my “Writing” page shows up on the website, but I can’t find my content for editing.
    3. My “Why this book now” page (under “Book”) doesn’t show any content on the site, but it’s there for editing. This is for most of the pages – even my form/survey (“Contact Us” & “Self-Assessment” pages).

    I am contacting our host (Lunarpages) to see what I can get from them. Thank you.

    I am still waiting to get the error logs from Lunarpages.

    However, is there a way to upload an earlier version of Jetpack? I’m curious to see if that has any effect since it was working before I upgraded.

    Thanks for the work on getting the error logs.

    You can download a previous version from https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/jetpack/developers/ , though I’m hardpressed on what a Jetpack-related cause may be.

    Wondering aloud, were there any other plugins updated or disabled near the same time? Or changes with the theme?

    Thread Starter mads6

    (@mads6)

    The theme has not changed since we had it built last year.

    As I stated in my original post – Last week I updated all of my plugins.

    So that’s why I believe it was jetpack.

    Tried uploading older versions of Jetpack to my plugins by uploading zip files through WP. However, everytime I tried I got this response – “The uploaded file exceeds the upload_max_filesize directive in php.ini.”

    Can I upload this in zip file form to my file manager through my control panel?

    Not the zip directly, no. You can extract the zip on your computer, then using an FTP client upload it to your directory.

    Alternatively, you could contact your host and ask them to increase the limit. Often shared hosts will leave it at a 2 MB default. Increasing this would allow you to upload it. I’d suggest no lower than 10 MB.

    Thank you Brandon, Richard & Esmi for trying to help solve this problem. Unfortunately, I ran out of time to get this fixed and had to resort to doing a system restore. A week and a half of trying to figure this out was too long.

    I’m sure Jetpack works with lots of other sites, just not ours. Once our site is back up and running, I will disable this plugin. Good luck to everyone else!
