• Hello all!
Downloaded WP and tried reading the guide which quickly descends into geekspeak – the famous 5 min install????. What do I do next, have a webhost and domain name.

  • Ask your host if they have an installer that will load WordPress on your host account.

Most competent web hosts have just that sort of thing, and it comes in real handy since you only need to fill out some info (name of your site and such) and the geeky bits are handled by the installer program.

Sorry, timDesain, have no idea what that is all about. Downloaded it, followed instructions to where I could, cannot recall anything about an install, otherwise i could open it on my pc right? .
If WP had written instructions in english, it would be a heap easier. Will call hosting co tomorrow, if they cant help, i’ll just delete WP.

    Thanks for your input.

WordPress is well known for its ease of installation. Under most circumstances installing WordPress is a very simple process and takes less than five minutes to complete. Many web hosts now offer tools (e.g. Fantastico) to automatically install WordPress for you. However, if you wish to install WordPress yourself, the following guide will help.

Thanks, but those links are the same geekspeak that actually makes no sense to your average person. If my hosts cant install it, I’ll just move on to a normal program that you install in the regular way.
    Thanks for your help.
