• Is there a way to download the contents of a WordPress website in a way that is readable and not just in code?

    Thank you,

    Pat M.

When I download my back up files I can’t read them. Everything’s in different folders. Nothing is together how it is on the website. I could find the media I have uploaded, but it’s in a folder with other media and not with the post it actually appears with. And I can’t find the actual written text.

    Thanks

Your content is in the database. It’s not designed to be read directly from the backup.

what are you trying to accomplish?

Thanks Steve. When I write my site content I do it right in WordPress. I have no record of what I write on my computer. I’m just wondering if there’s a way I could take what’s written on the website and download it to my computer. This way I could have access to the text right on my computer as well.

    Thank you,

    Pat

You could install a local wp via https://localwp.com and restore your database into it.
