Downloads menu no longer available for Editors?

Hi Sal, we will add a filter hook to this plugin that will allow you to override it in the next release of the plugin. I will share a small code snippet that you will be able to use to allow “editor” roles to use it.

You can go ahead and download the test version now where we already added the above mentioned filter:

If you use that version, you can apply the following tweak to allow “editor” and above roles access to the edit permission of downloads post type:

Thanks for this, worked perfectly!

I replaced the plugin with this version, checked Editor menu and “Downloads” link was missing (as expected) and then added the code as a snippet Using https://en-gb.www.ads-software.com/plugins/code-snippets/), and the “Downloads” link appeared fine in the Editor menu. ??

will this be added into the next release (so I can remove the Snippet plugin) ?

The new filter hook I added to the code will be added to the core plugin. We cannot globally make the menu available to users without administrator (there is security implications for that). So we added this new filter hook that allows someone to override it for his/her site (just like you did).

So in the next update, the filter hook will be there. You will still need to use the following code customization for your site to make the menu available to editors and above:
