    Hi

Have used the plugin for a few years, thank you.

Just upgraded the plugin to the latest version (Version 4.4.13 as of 6th Dec 2021, WordPress 5.8.2 ) and now the download links do not work ?? I have hundreds across multiple categories so I am hoping (praying) there is a simple place somewhere that I need reconfigure? They have been working for the last few weeks and the logs reflect this activity. So todays upgrade from (I think v4.4.12 or v4.4.11) before to v4.4.13 has broken it somehow.

When I go to edit one and check the path, it all looks valid. I have http to https redirection enabled via Apache and that has worked fine for months. The URL looks like this in the “Edit” window :

    https://mywebsite.org.uk/download/2612/

So that should work. But now, nothing. No error. If I right click and choose “Open in new tab”, it open a tab briefly and then it just closes again. Tried clicking Save in the Permalinks section, and tried de-activate and activate again. Nothing works.

That said, if I right click a download link, copy it to clipboard, open a new tab, click paste, then add ‘s’ to ‘http’ to force it to https, then it does work. So, it is something to do with the fact that the “http” links are now longer able to be directed to https.

Desperate for some help here folks. Thanks

    Ted

I’m not sure what changed in the plugin, but suffice to say I fixed this by editing my wordpress wp-config.php file, and I have now hard coded “https” instead of “http” for the two domain name sections. And now all is well again.

So it was obviously something to do with the https redirection. Maybe a change in Apache, or maybe the “Fix Insecure COntent” plugin, which I also use.

    Thanks
