One of the first Jetpack features I use on all my sites is Downtime Monitor.

My question is if such checks/pings are enough to wake WP cron up?

I have a few very quiet sites with cron jobs backing up and that even if I try real cron jobs I just can’t seem to flush them away, or maybe there is a bigger (hosting?) issue, in which case I will continue this elsewhere.

    Hi there,

There’s no relation between the two. Downtime Monitor only pings your site to check if it’s up or not. Your server doesn’t have to do anything to support that feature.

If you’re having issues with your cron jobs, you need to contact your host.

    Hi,

Thanks for clarifying, I figured as much. I have set up real-cron jobs.
