    Great integration!

How do we deduct points from the ‘gets rates on a post’ if the vote was a downvote? It only seems possible to add points even if the author got a downvote…

    Thanks

    Hi @richard-b

Yes, I see what you mean, for that we will introduce a set of events based on a specific rate (right now you have events for any rates and for rates based on a minimum)

With those specific rates events you will be able to award users that upvotes (rating = 1) or downvotes (rating = 2)

So you will see those events on next update (we hope it for today, since is a small change)

@rubengc Just seen the update, im using ‘get rates on a post’ how would I choose the downvote?

    (@richard-b)

Ok using ‘get rates on post with a specific rating’ using 1 in the Award points and 2 in the Deduct points but it always adds one point even if its a down vote?
Am I doing something really wrong?

    Hi @richard-b

With the “specific rating” events, you are able to setup the value of the rating you want to award or deduct for

For what you mention, it will work as you expect if you setup the upvote value as 1 and downvote value as 2 on WP PostRatings

    Hi @rubengc
Thanks for letting me know ??

I have set it up exactly like that, please see my screen shot, however it is still adding points for upvotes and downvotes

    Hi @richard-b

From your screenshot looks like your users should

I also did a test with exactly your same setup and everything was working correctly to me

Probably a plugin is entering in conflict with GamiPress or with WP PostRatings so have you perform a theme and plugins conflict test?
There are full details about how you can perform this test:
    https://gamipress.com/docs/troubleshooting/theme-and-plugins-conflict-test/

    Hope it helps

    Hi @rubengc

Sorry for the delay, we have done a full conflict test and the plugin still adds a rating even if a downvote is given…

    Hi @richard-b

Then the unique thing that could cause any issue here is a wrong setup of the points awards, you can try to delete and add them again with this setup but, as i mentioned before, I personally did a test by myself with your exact setup and I can award specifically for upvote and downvote

Check also the WP PostRatings setup to see that everything is correctly setup

also you can create a temporal install here:
    https://poopy.life/

Where you will be able to setup everything on a fresh install and check that it’s working correctly

From our side, we will re-check everything regarding this add-on to check if there is something that can cause any issue in any way

@rubengc Thanks again so much for your help, finally figured out what is going on.
In WP Postratings we have a up / downvote system going, upvote adds 1 and downvote removes 1 so the ratings value in your plugin for a specific rate would be ‘+1’ and ‘-1’.

As the plugins value box does not accept negative numbers it is always just adding one.

Is there any way to accomplish this? It seems a little strange to add 2 Post ratings when clicking the downvote button.

    Hi @richard-b

    You are completely right

I just added this improvement to our roadmap in order to revise and improve this feature to support and match exactly the rating instead of turn it on an absolute number

So you will get it working correctly on next update
