Drag and drop sorting not working as expected

I’m still pretty new to the plugin. I think I used to be able to drag an image to exactly where I wanted it, specifically if adding a new image I could put it between 2 images. But now when I try to put an image in between 2 other images the layout shifts and forces an image up/down into an adjacent row.

Thanks for reaching out! It really depends on what gallery type you are using. If you are using creative gallery or masonry, when you move an image between another 2, the images will shift left/right depending on how you are adding the image.
If you are using Custom Grid, the images will move up/down because the sorting system of this grid is based on packery, which is based on columns sorting and not rows.
You can switch between gallery types while moving the images, then back to the Custom Grid.
Another option is to use the ‘replace image’ option that can be found on each image. Just hover over an image in the gallery > click the replace icon and you can replace the image there. It will retain it’s place. However this is an option only Modula Pro currently has.
