A client has a site I’m working on. One day suddenly they reported to me that the edit tools for editing an image with Draw Attention were not showing. The “General Settings”, “Highlight Styling” and “Hotspot Areas” are all missing. I only have the Draw Attention plugin and the Cornerstone plugin needed for the X Theme from ThemeCo running.

There are no errors in the console when running just these two plugins. But it still does not show the edit tools for the image. WordPress, the X theme, the Draw Attention plugin and the Cornerstone plugin are all updated to their newest versions.

I saw a previous post from a year ago report a similar issue and that the solution was updating the X theme. I have already done that and it has not worked for me.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, cheers.

    Hi There,

Thanks for reaching out to us.

Did your client recently update to WordPress 5.5 or higher by any chance? We’ve seen some sites that are having issues with the changes made to jQuery. We would recommend installing this plugin to try and resolve any jQuery-related issues:

    https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/enable-jquery-migrate-helper/

Can you please try installing that plugin and let us know if the issue gets fixed?

    Thanks,
    Liam

    Hey Liam,

Thank you for the quick reply.

They did update to WordPress 5.5.1 recently. I installed the plugin and can see when I go to the “Edit Image” page within Draw Attention that the jQuery Plugin is running. It logs in the console “JQMIGRATE: Migrate is installed with logging active, version 1.4.1”.

Unfortunately it did not resolve the issue. The edit tools I mentioned before are still not showing up.

    Any other ideas?

    Thanks,
    Jordan

@jordan31 Thank you for working with us to try to get this working. I’m going to mark this as resolved even though we hit a dead end through email support.

If you’re experiencing a similar issue, please try to go through this list to see if that helps:

    • Deactivating all plugins except for Theme & Draw Attention to rule out plugin conflicts.
    • Updating all the plugins and Draw Attention to their most recent releases to rule out an issue with old software.
    • Switching to a completely different theme to rule out a conflict with the Draw Attention plugin.
    • Disabling 3rd party scripts at the request of your team.
    • Confirmed that our version of PHP and hosting isn’t causing the issue.
    • Check there are no files in the wp-content/mu-plugins directory to rule out a conflict there.
