Dreaded ' in IE – Unable to Fix, Need Help

I’ve recently installed WordPress and love it to bits, but am unable to resolve a frustrating issue. I’m importing my old LiveJournal archives into WP and it seems apostrophes are unable to translate in Internet Explorer. Instead of a ‘ I get an ' – Does anyone know how to remedy this? Your help is much appreciated!
