• My site is down. This is what the DreamHost site said:
[50 mins 23 secs ago: Outage verified: We are actively looking into resolving it. 58 mins 8 secs ago: Outage first reported.]-That was over an hour ago.
I messaged the Support Staff at DreamHost and 1 hour later this was their response:

[This is just a notification that your message has been moved to our severe problem queue. This queue is for major outages that cause a large amount of support to come in. Our goal is to resolve the problem based on the information you have provided. We will then send you an update once the issue is resolved. Depending on the problem it may take longer than 24 hours for a response. Please hang in there, when messages are moved here your problem is given top priority. Please note that callback support is not available for messages moved here.]

    – So, If I’m paying the extra $9 a month for “Phone Support” when my site goes down- and I really need that help, it doesn’t apply for those times!

I selected DreamHost, because www.ads-software.com recommended it for Hosting. I paid WordPress for a “Guided Tranfer” – to set me up on DreamHost.

Now, What do I do? How can I continue to have my site Hosted by a company that provides an inconsistent service.
A “Hosting” company, that when their servers go down, they have no back up plan and your site is down….. for who knows how long?

-How do I get my site off of DreamHost?
-Who is a reliable Hosting company?

No – read the message again.

This queue is for major outages

A major outage means a serious problem – possibly affecting many sites. Such issues take more than 1 hour to fix.

Please hang in there, when messages are moved here your problem is given top priority.

You can’t get higher priority than that.

All hosting companies have problems with servers from time to time. That’s just a fact of cyberlife.

I’m sorry you’re having problems with your site.

Yesterday we were suffering from a network outage, due to issues with our upstream provider. You can read about the details here: https://www.dreamhoststatus.com/2012/09/06/intermittent-outage-in-one-of-our-los-angeles-data-centers/

If this impacted you, you can request we move your DB and fileserver to the same physical location, so in the future this sort of issue won’t cause you any downtime.
