Drop down city doesn’t appear
-
I’m using the weather atlas widget.
When trying to enter a city, the drop down doesn’t appear, it just scrolls endlessly.
I’ve refreshed the page, cleared the cache, but it still doesn’t appear.
I have also tried adding different cities including New York and that doesn’t work either.
Appreciate any help with this. Thanks.

Hi, thanks so much for the follow up.
I was investigating if a firewall was blocking the plugin, but it appears this is not the case. When i say it scrolls endlessly, the box where the plugin pulls up a city simply scrolls. It doesn’t matter what city I enter, it doesn’t pull up ANY city.
I will check with my host to see if they have any insight.
Also, I’m using the latest version of WP, 4.8.
Hi localjet,
Thanks for reaching again.
Let’s dive in ??
We’re always testing every WP version including the latest stable version 4.8 (that we’re currently using for testing).
So that’s not the issue.Provider shouldn’t be an issue, as well.
Our guess is that some other plugin interferes with jQuery. Could you list all other plugins (I guess they’re all updated), so we can install them all on our test site to see if we can trace problem.
In the meantime you can delete widget from sidebar (not uninstall), and place it again in sidebar – just to test if default city (NY) weather forecast will appear.
Thanks for your patience in solving an problem.

Hi, yes New York is showing fine!
Thanks so much for your help.
Hello again,
we’ve installed all listed plugins and a few more (total of 33),
configured them as well (as much as we could), and tested drop down. The good news (for us) is that dropdown works as intended.
The bad news is that we couldn’t find the reason why it fails on your site. We’ve also tested everything in multiple browsers (Chrome, FF, IE10) – everything works fine.
So at the moment – the conclusion is that other plugins are not the reason why drop-down fails to work properly on your site.
Still installing all these plugins have made some (unwanted) results.
Multiple warnings have popped up all over control panel regarding various plugins. So our recommendations for your site is to:
1. turn on debugging in WordPress
https://www.google.com/search?q=turn+debugging+on+wordpress
that’ll signal problems with various plugins, that are otherwise hidden.
remark: Kento Testimonial Slider has a problem, other plugins are ok.2. deactivate and delete
– all plugins that create warnings in your control panel (and replace them with ones that don’t have problems ??
– all plugins that are not supported with the current version of WP (and install plugins that are compatible, and that developers update regularly)
– all plugins that you don’t use (and that don’t really need) (there’s no limit on a number of plugins you can install, but over 30 plugins installed is a bit too much for all of them to play nicely with WordPress and among each other)Also removing some plugins should improve speed of your site (and it just might fix problem in control panel with our drop-down ; )
Thank you for your help with this and suggestions!
We’d be able to help only if we log in to your admin, but that’s the line we cannot cross ??
Please keep us updated on your issue, or if we come up with some new ideas – we’ll post them here.
Your problem is our problem. And we’d like to solve it.p.s.
I know you haven’t had I chance to test the widget, but it would mean so much – if you’d rate our support ??https://www.ads-software.com/support/plugin/weather-atlas/reviews/
Hi localjet,
An updated version (1.1.0) of the widget is released.
Please update your widget, and try to set weather location again.
And, please, let us know if your problem is now resolved…
I installed the updated plugin but the drop down still doesn’t work. It just scrolls–I’ve tried entering different major cities but the widget only shows New York.
I also installed it on a different blog that uses only 5 plugins and had the same issue.
Finally, I installed on a brand new website and have the same issue. It will only show New York and the drop down just scrolls.
It must be either the firewall or server blocking it.
Thank you for following up.
Hello,
I am having the same issue. When I type anything into the “city” form a scrolling circle appears on the right side of the form box and the drop down menu never populates.
I’m trying to find the city code for Boise, Idaho, USA or Eagle, Idaho, USA. Can you please let me know which location code I should use?
Thanks in advance!
@localjet
Hi,
Can you please post a link where the widget is implemented. In the new version, users can select preferred weather location.
The drop-down system is the same for front-end and back-end, so we can examine the issue without logging into your site’s admin panel.@cradcliffe
Hi,
we’ll discuss your issue in separated topic. -
