• I haven’t been a n00b for quite a while but WordPress is new to me and I never have been very good with html/css. So I apologize in advance if what I am trying to accomplish is something pretty easy.

I did look through the forums before posting this (actually, for about three hours, trying various search terms). I am pretty sure, what most of my problem is, that I simply don’t know enough about WordPress terminology to know what to search for. LOL I can’t RTFM if I don’t know what I’m grepping for.

This is about an install at
    https://www.MetaphysicalMerchants.com

    The theme is
The Scroll 1.0 by Ophelia Nicholson

What I am trying to achieve is to change the area right below the blog description to have drop-down menus. Currently that area is being taken up by what seems to be a list of the most recent posts and/or pages. I like the way it looks, but not the way it is behaving right now.

I don’t need “home” because it’s just a superfluous post, coz if you click on the blog title it takes you to the home page.

The two next items, “The Team” and “The Three Fates”, are both pages. The latter is a child of the former. It parses correctly in the sidebar. I would like to make The Team a sticky page, or rather a drop-down menu, where the first subpage is The Three Fates and the rest of the team pages follow as other subpages/children are added, basically bios for our team.

I don’t need “welcome” at all, most people never read those things. That’s just another post, though, so no matter what post it is, that title would show up instead.

I’d like to make the “Where To Find Us” (currently a bastardized blogroll widget) into another sticky page. And maybe one more drop down menu that could be a promotional thing, contests, coupons, who knows. “Hot News” or something.

So, maybe three or four across the top, which will clean up the pageflow quite a bit, getting the important info above the fold yet still keep the look all nice and tidy. That way I could delete the box for “Where to find us” as well, replacing it with the login box.

I installed Menus Plus+ and it seems to work, but there is a lack of documentation and I can’t figure out how to make it do menus across the top. There is another drop-down menu widget from Leo the brazillian guy (forgot the name and I’ve deleted it), but I got what seems to be a loop error when I ran it. Might be the same lack of documentation or it may just not be compatible with this version of WordPress.

If there is another widget that will achieve this goal, by all means lead the way. Thank you.

This is off the topic of this post, so please point me to the right links if it’s going to be an involved answer (I’m sure it’s been discussed somewhere).

Two questions. One, is it “better” to have the pages box first in the sidebar, or the categories?

and Two, I’m using a built-in widget for the Meta stuff, and what I see is
    Register
    Log In
    Entries RSS
    Comments RSS
    www.ads-software.com

I would like to remove the www.ads-software.com, comments rss, and entries rss links (there’s an rss link at the top of the page). I would like to move the login module up the page to the top, above the fold (I know how to do this part). Where/how do I edit this widget? I have a Geek in residence who speaks php and won’t mess it up, so if you can just point me to the right file…

    Many thanks,

    Ande
