• Changing the order of appearance of drop-down menus in Main Nav using the 2013 theme doesn’t work properly. The menu order always uses the page title and sorts the pages alphabetically. The settings on each page in the menu has to be edited to make the change, and I notice here that every page gets the same zero weighting in the menu order.

It should be possible to change the drop-down menu order with the Menu order interface, but it isn’t. Is this a bug or has it been fixed not in 2013 but in later themes?

  • I’m not sure about the Twenty Thirteen theme but have you tried organising your menu via Dashboard > Appearance > Menus where you can edit and manage your menus?

Yes, that’s what doesn’t work. Rearranging menus in Appearance -> Menus does NOT change the order. What works is editing the page or post directly and setting the Page Attributes -> Order (starting at 0) for each page.

This appears to me to be a bug that should be fixed.

Can you confirm that a menu is assigned to the proper location (Dashboard > Appearance > Menus > Manage Locations)? Perhaps it didn’t get saved properly.

In our case there is only one location in Manage Locations: Main Nav, which appears as the Menu Name in Edit Menus. I guess that’s an “affirmative.”
