I’m creating a site using the Canvas theme which I’ve used many time before. The site is https://livingwithconflict.net
The problem is the menu. In Internet Explorer it requires you to click each menu item twice before it activates. It is fine in Chrome and Firefox, but not IE. I’ve not come across this before and can’t work it out.

    Any suggestions anyone?

  • Have you asked Woo Themes? Have you checked for JS errors? Have you deactivated all plugins to see if any are causing that?

I’ve deactivated all the plugins – but that makes no difference. I’ve not asked WooThemes – it would need to go to Codeable, and I’d like to get a solution here first if possible.
I don’t know how to check for JS errors.

Are you aware these forums don’t support commercial themes?

Cheers. Thanks. I’ll check that out.

Alas no joy. JS errors is showing no problems. Bizarre.

Weird indeed. FWIW, I’ve not seen any other threads on this issue. Have you tried resetting the plugins folder – renaming it temporarily on the server? Do you only have this issue in Canvas? Have you tried reinstalling it?

Just reread your first post – this sounds like an IE issue not the theme. What version of IE? Are you in compatibility mode?

Good thinking. It works ok in compatibility mode (though that moves the nav bar around) but it doesn’t work when not in compatibility mode.

What version of IE? Is it only in Canvas (does that use a JS menu)?

IE9. It seems it is only in Canvas. I shifted over to Twenty Twelve and it didn’t happen there. I don’t know if Canvas uses a JS menu. How can I find out?

Hmmm. I’ve built several sites using Canvas and this is the first time this has happened. I have a feeling it must be to do with the changes I’ve made to the nav bar styling. Otherwise I would have this problem with other sites.

Yeah, that sounds logical – have you tried switching to the parent theme? You could also check for mark-up or CSS errors related to the menu.

I tried switching to the parent theme but got the same problem. I’m checking through the various changes I’ve made. Must be there somewhere. ?? Thanks for your help.

Finally I’ve resolved it. Simple really. I wasn’t using the most up to date Canvas theme. Ha. Once I updated that, everything was fine.
