• Drop-down menu does not work in IE6. That’s a very disappointing discovery, I must say. I like this theme very much.

    Unfortunately statistics show that IE6 is still out there and a lot of people are still using it. Otherwise I wouldn’t bother.

    Thanks numeeja,

    two nwebe questions.

    1. would ie6.css include ONLY the Firestone’s ie6 hacks Or would it include Firelord’s hacks for ie6 plus the style.css contents of the twenty theme as well?
    2. do need to remove * ONLY from infront of * html body OR ALL * in front of all items of the Firestone’s hacka?

    hi numeeja,

    I just tested ie6.css with or without the * in front of html body, I get the same error:

    Property behavior doesn’t exist : url(‘/misc/csshover3.htc’) url(‘/misc/csshover3.htc’)

    That means * has nothing to do with the error. any suggestion?

    Well, I’ve only one suggestion: include the fix as a WordPress plugin. That would allow adding a stylesheet in the head section of the HTML document where conditional comments are possible.

    I will post it a little later.

    Here is the plugin. It features all the display bug fixes I could find:

    • Header navmenu width fix;
    • Floating avatar in comments fix;
    • Font fixes;
    • Widget title fix;
    • Comment input form weird resizing bug fix;
    • Drop-down menu fix (works as expected with first 5 levels of page includes.

    Using a plugin also completely solves the HTC path problem.

    The CSS hacks I presented earlier are already included in this plugin, so they are no longer necessary separately. This plugin will work with the default 2010 theme as well.

    Download it here: ie6-support-2010.zip

    This way people who wish to add support for IE6 will be able to do so without the need of typing the hacks in manually. Unless, of course, some changes to the style (like nav menu hover background) for IE6 are desired. In this case you can edit the CSS file that comes with the plugin.

    Thanks Firelord, great! Will try that.

    Thanks a lot for your work! It all works except for the dropdown menu, which is the most important issue to solve for me. I tried using your plugin and adding the changes manually to my child theme’s style.css. Both didn’t work. Any suggestions what the problem might be?

    Thanks in advance for your help :)!

    amazing! seriously thank you

    BlackWizard86, which subversion of IE6 are you using? I tested everything against v6.0.2900.2180 running under XP SP2. See if:

    • You have JavaScript enabled and working;
    • There is no security restrictions within IE6;
    • The script gets blocked by an antivirus, which is unlikely, but still may happen.

    Firelord, it somehow was an issue with the IETester I was using. Your plugin works perfect! Thank you so much for your work, it’s highly appreciated!!!

    All right, good to know it ultimately worked for you ??

    Unfortunately, IETester is not perfect, nor is Utilu IE Collection (which did not work for me at all). This is why I still have IE6 under XP – I use it for testing purposes.

    Since there is no more feedback I assume that we can call the situation resolved for now.

    Feel free to report any problems.

    Can you put the plugin in the WordPress plugin repository? https://www.ads-software.com/extend/plugins/ More people might find it there when they’re looking for additions to and fixes for Twenty Ten.

    (@firelord)

    I’ve added a request to host the plugin. No idea how long it will take for it to get approved.

    Plugin added. If you already have it installed, a new version notification will probably pop up in your dashboard.

    The clean way is to remove the old version prior to ‘updating’ otherwise the plugin will be somewhat messed up and you will have to uninstall it twice to get rid of it.

    The plugin is available here:
