Drop-down series selection needs improvement

When the “Series TOC” widget displays a drop-down box on the blog site, the drop down list contains an item called “Select Series” as part of the list of series which is confusing. In addition if you select a series and are taken to the series archive, then the drop-down shows the current series name instead of the instruction “Select Series”. Neither of these behaviors are normal for drop-down selection boxes so I’m not using that widget.
