• Quite recently, things changed such that sometimes (only *sometimes*) I go to upload new media to a post and the screen fills blue and it goes “Drop files to upload” and I hate it!!

Why? Because I want it to do the usual method of opening File Explorer (which it does the rest of the time).

I can’t just ‘drop files to upload’ because both my browser and File Explorer are fullscreen so I’ve got to mess about resizing both windows just so I can carry on, since I can’t cancel out of this, and if I refreshed the screen then it wouldn’t have saved anything I typed since my last save (which I don’t always do just before adding new images).

Is there a way so it JUST does File Explorer, please? Thanks.

  • Usually there it is optional. There is the drop files OR select files. If you are using windows, you can just drag the file to the start bar, hover over the browser’s icon, and the browser will show up fullscreen. Hopefully this helps.

Alternatively you can use the browser uploader by navigating to https://yoursite.com/wp-admin/media-new.php
    Obviously change yoursite.com;)

Do you know how I switch this off from happening, please? I can’t find the option.

I’m always on the browser already so don’t want to drag/drop anything. Thanks for the link, but I want to upload straight into the post.

I think I’m going to have to learn to save just before uploading new photos, and then if it does it, I can refresh and get back to where I was.
