Drop in website traffic since July 19, 2024

    There has been a noticeable drop in traffic on my website since July 19, 2024. My website is small but I typically get 20-30 visitors and 40-50 views per day. Starting July 19, this dropped to 1-2 visitors and I know one of them is me. The drop in visitors has continued through today, July 23, 2024. Something doesn’t seem right. July 19 was the day of the Crowdstrike IT outage, is it possible that has something to do with it?

    Please review and let me know if there is a problem with my website.

    No, it has nothing to do with that. But maybe your visitors are in a region of the world where it is currently a long weekend?

    Two tips, however:
    You seem to be using WP Statistics to record visitor numbers? I have that on one of my sites too and just saw a note that they have changed their records and that you should change something in the settings. Check to see if you can see that too. Otherwise, ask in their support forum: https://www.ads-software.com/support/plugin/wp-statistics/

    And: if you have the Google Search Console, check to see if there are any anomalies mentioned there. That often helps to identify when something is wrong.

    Yes, I am using WP Statistics. And I believe you are correct. I recently switched from server side tracking to client side tracking based on their recommendation but I hadn’t cleared my cache. I just went through the steps they recommend to correct the problem. We’ll see how it goes.

    Did your website recover from the traffic drop? I’m wondering because I’ve suffered a strange traffic drop across many site with seemingly no good answers. All starting late July.
