• Hi everyone,

Again I have to ask for the help of the users of this forum, I hope someone knows a solution.
In October 2020 I wrote: “After upgrading to WP 5.5 the dropdown menus in the main header of our website are not working anymore. It concerns Bestemmingen (Destinations), Type Reizen (Type of tours) and Over Blini (about us). When clicking on the arrows right of these buttons, nothing happens.”
With your help, the problem was solved by installing https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/enable-jquery-migrate-helper/.

But unfortunately this doesn’t work anymore after upgrading to WordPress 5.7: the dropdown-menus dissapeared again.
Fortunately, this time I only upgraded WP our test-environment (https://test.blinireizen.nl/), so our official website (www.blinireizen.nl) is still functioning as it should (WP 5.5). But at some point I’ll have to upgrade to WP 5.7 here too.
    Anyone have an idea?

    Thanks again!

  • That plugin is intended to be a temporary solution while you get the underlying cause fixed. It should notify you of a plugin or theme that has the faulty code. You will need to fix the code (or get the author to fix it) or switch to a different theme or plugin with better code.

    Dear Joy,
    Thanks for your answer.
From the errormessage I understand the problem is caused by superfish.js (The jQuery menu plugin by Joel Birch).
We’re planning to launch a new website at the end of this year, so the problem will be solved automatically, for now I am looking for a temporary solution.

I’m going to have another look at the problem, maybe I can fix it myself. If not, I have been approached by a PHP programmer who says he can solve the problem.

If the PHP programmer can do Javascript, he can help you, because the problem is in Javascript.
The lead of the Support Team here (and author of the Helper plugin) wrote this article for fixing things: https://clorith.net/updating-jquery-code-in-your-unmaintained-wordpress-plugin-or-theme/

    Hi Joy,

I’ve installed the latest version of Superfish Javascript, and now the dropdown-menus are working again!
Only thing is that the small arrows next to the concerning buttons (that mark them as dropdown-able) have disappeared from the menubar.
So the problem has not been solved completely, but I’m glad the menus are working again.

    Thanks for your help!

I have a soccer website and our dropdown menus don’t work now. We have WP version 5.7.2. I updated the 2 active plugins also. Still not working. No idea what to do about this.
