• My website is https://thessdreview.com and it is based on the Reflecta 2 theme with extensive customizations for things such as next page, advert placements, formatting etc

I want to move it to the new Black Aperture Theme as it appears to be extremely customizable.

Q1. If I don’t like the way things are going with the new theme, can I just reinstall the old and it will be back the way things were once again or, for some reason, will I lose those new customizations?

Q2. Will changing themes result in the replacement of any non-them related files where, if I revert back, I lose customizations?

I guess all I really want is the confidence that I can work on the new theme in low traffic hours and then turn the site back on until it is complete and ready to stay live personally.

Actually, is it possible to install and work on it while the original site is still live?

    Tx ahead.

You can try one of the plugins that allows you to see a different theme when you are logged in as administrator, but everyine else sees the original theme.

I have used Vladimir Prelovac’s Theme Test Drive: https://www.ads-software.com/extend/plugins/theme-test-drive/ in the past when I used to cowboy code on live sites. It looks like it has not been updated for while but it probably still works. If not there are several similar plugins that do much the same thing that may have been tested on later versions of WordPress.

No… and thanks. I need the ability to significantly modify the new theme off line before that.

what I DONT get is why people who are so proficient at building websites have only a gmail address and no website of their own to show how good they are?

Well, there’s your first clue. ?? Anyone who responds to a job ad should include some sort of summary resume. If they don’t, ask for one.

    Personally,

I have my new platform (Black Aperture) and it would probably ONLY take a max 6 hours of work to fine tune it and get it up right now… Thats what is so frustrating to me is I haven’t got that knowledge to get me there. It would be so nice just to TeamView another in, work with them in what I need, Paypal and then trust them for future projects.

Now I am trying something else…. Using Instant WP and have purchased backup buddy so am downloading its backup and php file to try in that.
