Duplicate a form to edit and make a new one

Until recently I could duplicate a form and make a few address changes and thus make a new one for a different person. Suddenly now when I duplicate a form the original “disappears” when I make the copied one into a new one for a different person. This is a very basic thing and cannot understand why this would be going on.
