    Hi,

Our analytics has reported extremely low bounce rates for a long time and only just getting around to fixing it. I read that it is most likely caused by having more than one analytics property firing. Upon inspecting my homepage, I do indeed see two UA- properties.

If I check the Site Kite settings, there is only one property. If I disable it, the rogue property is still present. The only way I can get the rogue property to go away is to disable site kit itself.

Can you please advise me how to troubleshoot and where this rogue property is coming from?

Maybe not something you can help with but is there any way to retrospectively fix our historical bounce rate?

    Thanks

Thanks for reaching out and opening a support topic. I’ve checked your site manually and using the tagassistant.google.com service and all seems to be fine, with the UA-18****794 property the only Google Analytics property firing on your site for non logged in users.

What I suspect may be be occurring from your own checks is that you may be viewing a “UA-130569087-3” property, which is a Site Kit added property for anonymous tracking. This is only viewable for logged in administrators.

Can you check whether you can see any other property other than the mentioned UA-18****794 property when visiting your site from a Chrome browser incognito window, or while not logged in? If you do notice any additional property please share your Site Health information via this form and I’d be happy to perform some additional checks on your site.

Thanks, yes I guess it was the anonymous tracking property as it doesn’t show in an incognito window.

OK, so if it isn’t that that’s causing the super low bounce rate, any ideas what is (sorry I know that’s not specifically site kit but maybe you have an idea)?

    Thanks

Thanks for the update. Unfortunately I can’t be sure of any potential causes for a low bounce rate. You can however use the Google Analytics Help Community for any tips or suggestions on queries when it comes to bounce rates.

You can also use the below Help Center article, which suggests performing some Optimize tests:

Hopefully the above is of use. Site Kit itself is primarily a wp-admin operated plugin which doesn’t impact a sites bounce rate.

If you have any further queries be sure to reach out.
