    Hi,

I activated SEOPress this morning, alongside Yoast which I used to pull the settings from, and once done, I deactivated Yoast.

Thought I’d check my homepage, which had big red crosses on it, the first of which read:

A canonical URL is required by search engines to handle duplicate content.

    https://mywebsite.com/
    https://mywebsite.com/

You must fix this. Canonical URL duplication is bad for SEO.

The question is then, how do I get rid of canonical URL duplication when using SEOPress?

It also mentioned that ‘there might be something wrong with your theme’, which my theme developer would most certainly take exception to!

    Also:

The content analysis showed this regarding schema:

We found these schemas in the source code of this page:

    WebSiteduplicated schema - x2
    Organization
    HowTo
    Article
    VideoObject
    JobPosting
    Service
    EntertainmentBusiness
    organization

These are obviously from the Schema Pro plugin, but why is ‘website’ duplicated when using SEOPress, as I was advised earlier that SEOPress lite does not inject schema?

On further investigation, there is NO website schema inside Schema Pro, the website schema is being pulled from Yoast, where the posts, pages, and two custom post types all have Yoast schema (website) set as default.

The problem with that is, that I had a right row with the Yoast support team telling them that their Schema was no longer required on my website, and they pointed me towards some code that deleted it.

So how and why does SEOPress still recognise ‘website’ schema from a plugin that had its schema deleted, and that is deactivated?

I’ve now re-activated Yoast and put SEOPress on the sidelines until the above issues can be addressed.

    Hi,

can you share the URL of your page please?

    Any caching plugins?

    Hi @rainbowgeek

Yes, I used to use WP Rocket the last time that I used SEOPress Pro, but they ballsed up BIG time!

I’m now using Lightspeed Cache as I’m on a Lightspeed Server.

I’ll re-activate SEOPress for a while, and the URL is at midlandsmaidens(dot)com (NSFW)

A screenshot of the offending schema types:

The strange thing is though if I use the dinky tool on the front end, there are NO duplicate schemas.

So do I believe the tool on the front end, or the full blown content analysis in the back end?

Right then, I think I’ve got it.

I went to SEOPress>> Titles and Metas – and turned off the sitelinks searchbox option.

Then I tested the schema using Schema Pro to make sure that the sitelinks searchbox was still loading through that plugin, which it was.

I then went to the Social Networks tab in SEOPress and turned the knowledge graph to ‘None’ – disabling that feature in SEOPress.

Finally, I checked again using Schema Pro, and all of the duplicate schemas had disappeared except for the ‘Local Business’ one, which is still showing as two instances.

I can live with running two local businesses though ??

Ok thank you for this update.

    Glad it works as expected.

    I close this ticket now.
