Duplicate categories when importing

  • I am having to import posts from my old wordpress.com blog by user since I had so many posts (it appears breaking it up is the only way to get www.ads-software.com software to upload all the posts.)

    For some reason it duplicates categories every time I upload. For instance, under “politics” I don’t just have politics anymore, I have four politics categories.

    Is there any way to prevent this from happening?

    I tried figuring this out all last night to no avail. Anyone else have any ideas?
