Hi, I have 2 folders in my published collection for WP/LR. In each folder I have placed a copy of the same image. Does this result in 2 instances of that image being uploaded to the server, or will they just write over each other? What I am trying to do is have 2 copies of this image in WordPress, one with and one without watermarking. I do this by syncing the first folder with watermarking turned on under the WP/LR settings, and then turning it off before I publish the other folder. The images, however, seem to overwrite each other. Is there a better way to do what I am trying to do?

    Many thanks
    Wade

    Hi Wade,

In your LR, is it the SAME image or is it a VIRTUAL COPY? This is a big difference. In LR, a virtual copy is considered “different”. However, if you are using the exactly the same image in folders and collections in the WP/LR Sync Publish Service, it is identified as the same image and result in only one image in the Media Library. Which is much cleaner (and sadly Smugmug, for example, doesn’t do this).

If you want to have two different images, especially one with a different watermark, then the only solution is to create an additional Publish Service including watermark. That’s not specific to WP/LR: in one Publish Service, you can only have one type of Export Settings. Maybe one day LR will let us set up different Export Settings on folders/collections within a Publish Service ??

    Hi Jordy

Thanks for the quick reply. The virtual copy has done the trick, thank you.

On a slight aside, can I use the same WP/LR license to create two WP/LR publish services to the same WordPress site?

    Many thanks
