Duplicate Default Template for Archive

Hi everyone. I’ve searched and searched and come up empty on what I thought would be an easy customization.

I want the archive template to match (more or less) with the home page template from Twenty Twenty. I created a child theme and attempted to create an archive.php and couldn’t get what I wanted.

So, two questions.
First – Where does the default template file live? If I knew this, I could copy and paste that code (with some tweaks) into an archive.php file and I’d be on my way.

Second – I don’t want to download another plugin to do this, but if that’s the best way to create custom templates within Twenty Twenty can you direct me to the best one that plays nice with that theme?
