• When I enter page specific description and keywords, I end up with duplicates as the site-wide tags still show up. I don’t see any way to suppress site tags for posts where I want to customize. I’m concerned that Google might ding me for the duplicates. Is there a feature I’m missing?

    Thanks!

Thanks for the link, I see what you mean.

I’ll look into this, as obviously it’s not ideal that these tags are repeated. Will make sure next update that more specific tags such as those defined on a page will override any global tags.

That said, one thing we don’t do and probably won’t do is check meta tags output by other plugins, such as Yoast’s WordPress SEO plugin. On your page, there’s a description tag generated by that plugin, and we can’t account for all plugins and what they generate without doing things that ultimately would increase page load times (e.g. rewriting page output). For description and keyword tags, I’d suggest you use the SEO plugins if you have one and they automatically add it themselves. MTM is more useful for those tags not covered by such plugins.

I’m not entirely sure Google will penalize you for it (partially because they give very little importance to those tags in the first place), but don’t quote me on that ??
