Duplicate e-mails send when user is on more the one list

So, I have set up my new post notification for multiple categories and connected each category to a corresponding list. People can subscribe to multiple categories and sometimes a post can have multiple categories.
It turns out that people who are subscribed to more than one category and both (or more) of those categories are connected to the post that they will receive multiple notification e-mails for the same post. One for every time they are on a list.
This is quite a big problem for me and I would very much like to see this resolved so that a subscriber can never receive more than one notification for the same post.
