I have a few pages on my site that utilize the Yoast ‘How To’ block. In the last few days, with no editing or changes from myself, Google search console has identified every instance of a ‘How To’ block as a duplicate. I only have one ‘How To’ block on each page that is listed, so I have no idea why Google thinks otherwise.

I only have very basic coding understanding so when I inspect the elements I don’t really know what I’m looking for in order to solve the problem. All I can say for certain is that I have checked each page in question and, as far as I can tell, I have not created a duplicate ‘How To’ block on any of them.

There are also 3 ‘Valid with warnings’ coming up stating that I have missing fields. However, these have been present since I first implemented the ‘How To’ blocks months ago. As they were not counted as ‘errors’ I put it to the bottom of my to-do list. Not sure if that gives any clue as to why these more serious errors have suddenly apppeared out of nowhere? Any help or suggestions much appreciated.

@arkhamrebel Are you able to provide a screenshot of the errors/warnings you are seeing in Google Search Console? You can include an image in your reply by uploading a screenshot using a tool like https://pasteboard.co/ or something similar, and then pasting the link to the image within your reply.

Hi Devnihil, thanks for your response. I am not entirely sure which part of the error message you need to see, so I’ve taken a best guess and linked it here:

This shows some of the detail of one of the errors (it is the same for every page I have with a Yoast ‘How-To’ block). If you need to see a different page of the search console please let me know. thanks

Thank you for the extra information and screenshot!

We see that the Google Search Console and Rich Results Testing Tool both show you the duplicated how-to error. The Google Structured Data testing tool does not.

This is because the Rich Result Testing Tool is looking at your AMP version of your page here: https://darkideas.net/metal-music-production/unlock-the-power-of-the-waves-linear-phase-multiband-compressor/amp/ and that page has schema output from another plugin on your site, namely: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/schema-and-structured-data-for-wp/.

We recommend that you don’t run 2 Schema plugins on your site, this should fix the duplicate issue.

Hi Jeroen,
Thank you so much for looking into that. I did only recently install the other plugin so you are almost certainly correct, that would match up with when Search Console detected the problem.
I will take a few days to sort out the issue and hopefully that will be the end of that. I appreciate the speed that you guys responded, thank you.
