We are getting multiple form submissions, smartphone visitors submit forms up to 15 times on sites utilizing Jetpack. While this issue is wide spread other plugin developers have come up with solutions.

    Hi there,

So, if I understand correctly, are people spamming the contact form and you want to see if there is a way to prevent/block visitors from spamming? If so, Akismet is the only anti-spam plugin that integrates with the Jetpack contact form. https://akismet.com/

If you haven’t already, I would install Akismet and see if that helps.

    Thanks,

This problem has nothing to do with spam. We have excellent spam control and prevention provided by another developer.

The issue is with legitimate visitors that submit forms multiple times. This is especially an issue with mobile phones as their submissions can duplicate the information up to 15 times.

Is it that mobile users are submitting forms up to 15 times, are you receiving up to 15 email notifications from the same submission? I am assuming it may be the latter.

I checked Jetpack Debug and I am receiving a connection error:

The Debugger shows the following Message: Could not validate security token.

This could be potentially contributing to the issue.

Would you be able to try the following exact steps for me for a completely fresh reinstallation?

    • From the wp-admin dashboard of your site, please go to Jetpack > Dashboard > Connections > Manage site connection from your left-hand menu.
    • Click the “Disconnect” button. If it’s already disconnected, you can skip to the next step.
    • Deactivate your Jetpack plugin by heading to Plugins > Installed Plugins and finding “Jetpack by WordPress.com.”
    • Completely uninstall Jetpack.
    • Reinstall the newest version of Jetpack.
    • Deactivate all of your plugins.
    • Activate only Jetpack.
    • Back in Jetpack > Dashboard > Connections > Manage site connection, Click the “Set up Jetpack” button and continue through the approval process.

Please let me know the results of this troubleshooting and we can go from there. Thanks!

Visitors are inadvertently submitting the form multiple times and the emails are sending as well. This issue is consistent across all sites using Jetpack forms. It appears to be compounded by touch screen devices registering multiple clicks on submit buttons.

Thanks for clarifying. Did you try a fresh install? And if so, have you seen any instance of the duplicate submissions since the fresh install? I am not getting API errors for the site:
