Duplicate linked blog

I have a site hosted on Bluehost.com for about 2 years now.
this summer I lost the domain due to some financial issues and had to repurchase it because I was outside the window to re-register.
The site was also linked to my wordpress.com account so I’ve copied this issue to their forum also (not exactly sure which is the issue but I believe wordpress.com)

I would like to link the new site to wordpress.com and have successfully done so from my PC, but the app does not allow me to see it because the old one is still there. (From the app’s perspective I am adding a site that’s already there.) I cannot access any of the links/buttons that might allow me to remove it (because it doesn’t actually exist in that form anymore).

Basically what I see when I look at the global dashboard from my pc(wp.com) is 2 sites with the same URL and different titles. So I removed the new one so that I can resolve the issue with the old one. I don’t know how to remove the old one. It is no longer a jetpack site so the instructions I found to disconnect it that way did not work.
