    I’ve ran an SEO analysis on my site and I am having some alerts about duplicate meta descriptions.

    This is mainly on paginated pages, so say I have a website.com/product-tag/red-socks and there’s two pages, page website.com/product-tag/red-socks/page/2 also has the same meta description. Can you advise the best way to avoid this or whether this isn’t even a huge issue from an SEO perspective.

    @kyarauk If you wish to avoid having duplicate titles or meta descriptions on paginated pages, you can add the %%page%% variable to your pages.

    You can do so by going to SEO>Search Appearance>Content Types in your WordPress dashboard. We also have more information on using the template variables here: https://yoast.com/help/list-available-snippet-variables-yoast-seo/

    thank you @devnihil. I’m going to give this a go and reach out if I get stuck.
    Assuming I just add this variable to the description box? I already have this it seems in my titles.

    @kyarauk Thanks for your reply.

    Yes, you would just need to add the %%page%%variable to the Meta Descriptions if you are already using it with your page’s title.
