    Hi,

I’m experiencing the strangest issue with duplicate post and I’m hoping someone else has experienced it or can help me figure out why it’s doing this.

I have a post set up as a master template. It has styling, content, an image and a video clip. The idea was for my client to make a copy of the template post, edit it slightly, then save it as “Week 1”, “Week 2”, “Week 3”, etc etc.

We’re currently only on Week 1, so I had to create Week 2. So I took a copy of Master Template, made the relevant changes, then set it to draft.

My client called me in a panic an hour later. Turned out, Week 1 content had turned into Week 2!

So even though Week 2 was set to draft, it had overwritten the content in Week 1, which was live.

    How has this happened?

How can I stop this happening in future?

I really love duplicate post but I can’t use it like I want to at the moment ??

    Hi @brucebanner1981,
pardon me for the delay in answering your post!

Sorry to hear you are experiencing this issue.
Are you using any visual composer/page builder to create/edit those pages?
One hypothesis that may explain what’s happening would be that Week 1 is made of blocks that are not really stored inside the content but are someway stored as separate items and only referenced (e.g. by ID) by the page.
This would mean that cloning Week 1 into Week 2 just copies the references to the same blocks but not the blocks themselves, so when you edit the blocks while editing Week 2 the changes are reflected in Week 1.

Can you give me more informations about whether you’re using any tool (a plugin or something provided by the theme) to create the pages that may match this description?
    Let me know!

    Hi @npefitness,
regarding your issue, can you confirm that the checkbox for Slug under SettingsDuplicate Post, first tab What to copy is unticked? This is meant to be enabled only for very special use cases…

Also, is it possibile that you have any redirection/permalink plugin that in some way tweaks the routing by WordPress?

    Let me know!
