Hi there, I’m having a look at version 4.4.4 of Email Users to see if it suits. In the couple of test emails I’ve sent I am seeing the sender’s email address appear in the ‘To’ field twice.

Happens using both Individual and Group emails.

Not really a problem, but looks kinda funny. Is this something known, or something obvious I’m doing?

    Thanks

I see what you are talking about – let me take a look as to why it is doing that. It doesn’t seem to hurt anything and I only receive the email once but I agree, it looks odd.

This was happening because when selecting more than one user, the plugin was construction a “To:” header AND also specifying the $to field when calling wp_mail(). This resulted in double addressing the email. I’ve made a quick fix and in my test it appears to work so I’ll include it in the next release.

    Excellent, thanks.

If you’re looking for things for your ‘to do’ list, the thing that would make this the perfect email plugin (for me, anyway!) would be front end sending for users. That does seem to be the feature that no other plugin does, or does very poorly.

I’ve seen a number of requests for it, and no elegant solution yet.

The requirement (for me, and the others asking that I’ve seen) comes from running a club website. We want members to be able to email all other members, without having to circulate an updated mailing list all the time.

    Other than that, great work.

Does it have to be on the Front End or simply available to all users? Would it matter if the user had to use the Dashboard interface?

Well for me, the preference is front end. This is a club of very non-techie users, and I have made the dashboard and admin bar unavailable to them. Some of them will get confused or intimidated by seeing settings etc. I’ve done a little UI design work and in my experience the less confident a user is, the less they will look around…they pretty much only see what is right in the middle of the screen (so I would offer email functionality via a dedicated page).
