Duplicated site, but now I can't log into the original site
-
Hi,
I’m having some issues with my original site (after duplicating it) and I’m not sure how to fix it. I looked through all the documentation provided and read through the support forum topics for additional help, but I’m still not sure how to resolve the problem… so my apologies in advance if this topic is redundant or if the answer can already be found elsewhere in the support forum.
I tried to duplicate a site (www.originalsite.com) on a different domain (www.newdomain.com) for testing and development — the duplication was successful but now there are issues with the original site redirecting/linking to the duplicated site. I’m also unable to login to the wp admin panel on the original site. If I try to navigate to https://www.originalsite.com/wp-login.php it redirects me to https://www.newdomain.com/wp-login.php instead. I’m not sure how or why this is happening as I didn’t think anything on the original site would be affected by the duplication.
I *believe* I followed the duplication and installation process correctly:
1. created the package and installer files on https://www.originalsite.com
2. moved the two package and installer files to https://www.newdomain.com
3. created a new database for https://www.newdomain.com
4. browsed to the installer.php file on https://www.newdomain.com
5. connected to new database with the installer.php on https://www.newdomain.com and then finished the install processAside from the above, I didn’t make any other changes or edits to https://www.originalsite.com or any of its files. I’ve also cleared my caches and tried different browsers. So I’m not sure why the https://www.originalsite.com is having issues and redirecting to https://www.newdomain.com… please help!
Thanks for making this plugin and taking the time to respond — I appreciate your work and all your help!
