I originally posted this on a different thread, (the wrong one, sorry about that), closed that thread and am posting it here. I think this is the right place…I hope.

    Hello

I had a problem with my wamp server while developing a site on my computer, so I used Duplicator to backup my site. I uninstalled wamp64 and reinstalled a fresh one. I wanted to restore my site back onto the fresh wamp64 install, but using Duplicator will not work to restore the site.

I have tried every tutorial, video….everything over the last three days and nothing worked. The installer said I have a problem with the file in the root of the wamp server. I checked and the file has somehow been changed from a .zip to a .zip.tmp and I have no idea how to change it back, or convert it to .zip.

Once, early on, I was able to get through everything and hit Reset Permalinks and it took me to the login page for the site, but no matter what I did, the page would not log me in, even with my original login details, Changing the login details in the localhost installer page step 2. New Admin Account, did nothing to help.

Somehow my backup file is now .zip.tmp and will not work with duplicator. Is there another way to restore my site back onto my wamp server?

    Thank you.

    UPDATE__________________________

I found the proper zip file of my backed up site (Unchanged to tmp) and follow the steps 100%, but now when I click Reset Permalinks, it takes me to a wp login page that I cannot access with any username/password combination I have installed or ever used.
Changing the login details in the localhost installer page step 2. New Admin Account, does nothing at all.
I can rebuild the site if necessary, but all I want is access to the pages I duplicated.

Any help, ideas would be very appreciated.

    Update

I am trying to get this duplicated site up and running and now this is was I am getting.
    GENERAL WARNINGS
The following is a list of warnings that may need to be fixed in order to finalize your setup. For more details about warnings see the wordpress codex..
WP-CONFIG WARNING: The wp-config.php has one or more of these values “WP_CONTENT_DIR, WP_CONTENT_URL, WPCACHEHOME, COOKIE_DOMAIN, WP_SITEURL, WP_HOME, WP_TEMP_DIR” which may cause issues please validate these values by opening the file.

Where is the wp_config.php file and how do I edit it to get the login to work so I can get my site back up.

    Thanks

    Hey newcindyb,

Here is a really good resource for the wp-config.php file. Normally it will be found in the root of your WP site.

    Cheers~

I had a similar problem today creating an offline copy of a site to WAMP.

Using PHPMyAdmin on the local machine I found that the install script had not installed all of the tables into the wordpress database – including the wp_users one.

Using PHPMyAdmin I “Dropped” all of the tables and imported the sql file that had been unzipped into the web root folder. That worked fine – the file was correct and gave me all the tables.

I have no idea why the auto install didn’t work – but this fixed it.

    Hi!
I had a similar problem creating an offline copy of a site to WAMP.

My DB has 36 tables but the install script had not installed all of the tables into the wordpress database (only 31) – including the wp_users one and of course i cant log in.

Anything wrong in the plugin procedure???

    How can i solve it?

    Hey sitoriu,

Are you using mysqldump mode or PHP mode (from the settings screen)?

    Thxs

Hello, i have the same isue, wamp 3 x64, some tables are not installed like wp_users. No error from duplicator.

    using php mode

Just tryed with mysqldump, and its working

    Thanks for the update!

Hopefully you can help me out Cory.

I used duplicator to install a WP site to my localhost.

It all worked fine until I tried to sign in this morning. I got the site without signing in and no WP backend with which to manipulate settings.

I think all this began when I used the 3 cleanup features after copying last night.

Now I have nothing. Localhost is non-functioning. It can’t find the site and I’m getting Apache errors that when investigated and tried lead nowhere. I was going to blast the site all over again but localhost is nonoperational.

    Cornfused in Californie.
