I have a table with 2,300 records and I want to create a subset of this table with only 20 records. I can see no way of doing this. I can copy the whole table, but then I would have to manually select nearly all those records to delete them. There seems to be no “select all” which would help in doing this, as I can then deselect the 20 records I needed and delete the rest. Any help would be much appreciated, Dave.

    Hi,

thanks for your post, and sorry for the trouble.

To bulk-select rows, there’s a little trick: Click the first checkbox of the group and then click the last one, while holding down the “Shift” key.
This way, you can select a bunch of rows quite quickly.

Many thanks Tobias, I’m not certain why I didn’t try that! However, I don’t suppose there is any way to create a new table from a subset of records from an existing table, instead of having to delete 2,000 records each time. I want to split my big table into 20 or 30 sub tables.

    Hi Dave,

no, sorry, there’s no direct way for that.
Another idea could be to export the table to a CSV file and then split it offline, e.g. in Excel, or even by opening the CSV file with a text editor and copy/pasting the desired rows into the TablePress import screen again.

Many thanks again, I had thought of doing that but I always seem to have problems importing these large tables with dates in UK formats, etc. Anyway, now I can easily delete records it won’t be too difficult.
