Duplication with Automatic Latest Content
-
Good Midsummer Eve, poets!
Actually, we have a bit of a problem. This morning I compiled an email in the MailtPoet plugin on my WordPress site. It contains five parts where your ‘Automatic Latest Content’ widget pulls in content from the blog.
I have inserted that widget into the email template five times. The first three use one category, the last two use another category.
When composing/compiling the email in the WP admin (> MailPoet > Emails), it looks like the first widget pulls in the latest post of the category, the second widget pulls in the second-latest post, the third pulls in the third-latest. As it should. I test-sent this to myself several times and it looked awesome!
But… after sending the same email to all the subscribers of my list, I am getting feedback showing that the newsletter as received by those people contains duplicate content. The three posts in the first category are all the same, ie. three times the latest post from the category. Also the two posts of the other category are the same.
So, instead of:
1. Latest post from category 1
2. Second-latest post from category 1
3. Third-latest post from category 14. Latest post from category 2
5. Latest post from category 2…what my recipients see is:
1. Latest post from category 1
2. Latest post from category 1
3. Latest post from category 14. Latest post from category 2
5. Latest post from category 2…and that’s not good!
How can we fix this, please?
