I just tried the Duplicator plugin to move a WP site to a new host and everything seemed to work OK except I am not seeing any of my images in the Media Library of my site and I’m not even able to upload any new images to the Media Library. In checking the WP Uploads folder and image files via FTP the permissions are all set with a series of letters followed by the permission in parenthesis: ex: “adfrw (0666)”. I can change the permission numbers but the letters remain and I assume this is what prevents the images from showing up.

I tried deleting the site and re-installing the Duplicator files, this time unchecking the permission boxes under advanced, but got the same results.

What’s odd is if you do a google search for “letters appearing before permission numbers” nothing helpful shows up so this is a very strange problem.

Posting here to see if anyone has a suggestion to fix this. Will be moving site back to my original host until I can solve this or find another site migration tool that does not cause this problem.

  • Hey @videosc,

Hmmm, that does seem rather odd. I would contact your hosting provider, it’s possible they may have custom PHP directives that prevent certain features in PHP from running properly. Also if you have a different host you can try and run the installer on this will help to isolate it down to a host-specific level.

    Hope that helps~
