    Greetings:

I would like to use Duplicator plugin with my sites to keep as a backup and to assist when working locally and pushing to live site.

I just found that when I use Duplicator I receive an error message in the prepackage scan. The Duplicator error I receive when scanning to make a package is

    **********

    Overview:
The thresholds that trigger warnings for individual tables are 10MB OR 100,000 records OR tables names with upper-case characters. The larger the table the more time it takes to process and execute. This can cause issues with budget hosts that have cpu/memory limits, and timeout constraints.

    Options:
    1. Run a Repair and Optimization on the table to improve the overall size and performance.

    2. Remove stale date from tables such as logging, statistical or other non-critical data.

    3. For table name case sensitivity issues either rename the table with lower case characters or be pre-paired to work with the lower_case_table_names system variable setting.

    **********

I found the following WF tables associated with the error:

    Case:1
    Rows:0

    wp_wfBlockedIPLog

What suggestions are there other than removing WF before running Duplicator? Is there a fix coming soon?

    Thanks!

  • I’ve got this issue too. I’m excluding the wordfence tables for now. Still get a 404 error after some time though. Relying on updraft for now.

    Hi fprasuhn,

This appears to be an error within the Duplicator plugin. Have you tried posting on their forum?

“3. For table name case sensitivity issues either rename the table with lower case characters or be pre-paired to work with the lower_case_table_names system variable setting.”

The Wordfence database table names do have capital letters. I am not sure why Duplicator would have a problem with this naming convention but that seems to be the issue here.

Please post on the Duplicator forum and ask if there is an option or setting to resolve this.

This is NOT “an error within the Duplicator plugin”.

This is a WARNING from Duplicator of a dangerous practice by WordFence that MAY cause trouble if moving between systems that have different settings or file systems. It has caused duplicate tables many times.

It is always best practice to create table names in lower case.

Duplicator is 100% right to warn people of things that may cause trouble during a deployment or migration. Kudos to Duplicator for the warning.

FOrtunately WF people are considering correcting this problem.

    Hi Sonja,

Thanks for the link. That is a great explanation from Matt. In summary, database case sensitivity is based on the underlying file system.

I have transferred many WordPress sites with Wordfence installed and never had a problem with the camelCase naming convention on database tables. With that said, I rarely deal with WordPress on Windows. We currently do not support Windows and Windows seems to be related to the majority of the duplicate table issues reported to us. It is possible to have this problem on a non-Windows server, but chances are much lower.

I appreciate you mentioning this message being a warning. The OP stated it as an error, did not mention duplicate tables, or link to the similar thread where he had previously posted.

@fprasuhn please try to be more specific in your post next time around. ??

I did verify that table renaming is in the queue. You will more than likely be seeing this change in the future.

Very glad to hear that it is in the queue.

We have been big fans of yours until we discovered this and honestly had begun looking at the competition.

Any idea how soon we may see it?

I know a number of people that have been hit with duplicate tables. Some members of our team develop on windows, some macs.

We have also discovered incoming clients who had duplicate table and did not know it. I suspect there are many people who do not know that they have duplicates. Unless one looks at the database or runs a newer version of Duplicator, it would not be obvious.

Also, for the record, it can be either the OS and/or the “lower_case_table_names” setting. Some hosts set this and/or do not give access to this and other database settings on more “economical” hosting plans.

Also might be a good idea to suggest workarounds until a fix is out.

For now, we are telling our team to just delete WordFence before migration and reinstall after.

In case it helps, I’ve seen the issue twice, on Linux platforms with a respected host both times. It may be a coincidence, but on the other hand the issue may not be primarily Windows, as you think.

I never had any issue with moving sites using Duplicator. Yesterday I moved my first site with wordfence residue in the database….its a complete nightmare.

These lines dont even make sense, even worse; they dont correctly end using the “, throwing all kinds of unexpected errors during the proces….

    /* INSERT TABLE DATA: wp_wffilemods */
    INSERT INTO wp_wffilemods VALUES(“???%

Hope I save someone a lot of time, just remove anything that starts with wp_wfXXXX when your install keeps failing!

8 months in the que.. are you for real wflandon

Being a security plugin this does not talk very good about you regardless of how much i appreciate your work and your plugin, this is insanely crazy it is taking you longer than 8 months to launch this silly small fix on your table names.

11 Months and still the same problem is coming up.

    What a piece of crap!
