Duplicator greying out, unable to create package

Thanks for the feedback! Sorry your having issues on this one instance. Most likely its a JS error on that site. You could always temporarily switch to one of the stable themes that comes with WP create your package then switch back to your theme.

Hi, Cory. Hey, thanks for working on the weekend ??

I was going to do the “switch the theme” workaround, but I’ll test the plugins first and see what happens. Pinboard is a great theme for building sites for friends/organizations that can’t afford a premium theme, so that’s why I’m not tossing it overboard ??

I’ll report back on whether the issue gets resolved or not after checking the plugins.

WordPress Shortcodes is a nifty little plugin, so I just deactivated it to create the Duplicator package and then reactivated it for use on the site.

I wish all problems were as easy as this to solve. Thanks again so much ??

Cory, that’s so true! And I forgot that the number 1 rule is to check the plugins for incompatibility.

I was able to get a very small website online for a friend last night, thanks to your quick and helpful response. If only everything worked as well as Duplicator ??

I have tried the duplicator today.
Creating a package is no issue.
However when I run the install.php the screen freezes.

The log shows that the database is created, and the unzip is done.
The log file stops after this entry :

STEP1 COMPLETE @ 02:05:56 – TOTAL RUNTIME: 1.3773 sec.
********************************************************************************

If there is a step 1, then I expect a step 2
Is that correct? What can be wrong?

I have re-created the package, and with this second package I have the same issue.

It says “Status: Ready to create new package,” but then the screen greys out.

The solution is simple :

Use firebug and delete the node that overlay all the screen, it’s a javascript error and the <div> that overlay would not to desappear.

When you delete it from firebug you could click on the create package link after.

A good portion of these issues are taken care of in the next version. If you can give the developer version a try it may have your fixes for the issue your seeing. The very latest version (0.5.0) can be found by following these instructions:

-> Browse to https://www.ads-software.com/extend/plugins/duplicator/developers/
-> Look for the section “Other Versions”
-> Click on “Development Version” and download the zip plugin file
-> Uninstall your current version and install this one
-> Note: This is a development line version so please test in your sandbox first to make sure you have no issues…
