    The SQL file created isn’t saved as UTF8, but I could open it in TextWrangler and resave it in UTF8. Even so, when I recreated the archive and tried using the installer, it got mangled again. The same SQL file I fixed could be imported ok with phpMyadmin.

    Let me know if you need me to provide you with some configs or an SQL file to mess with.

    That might be an option I can control through code, I’ll have to research… It might also be related to how PHP is configured on the server such as:

    PHP Config – /etc/php.ini
    default_charset = “utf-8”
