Duplicator says “AJAX ERROR! STATUS:403 Forbidden”

I love Duplicator. It’s great!

It saved me when I discovered that the UpdraftPlus Backup plugin actually didn’t backup ANY WP database tables, even though it told me daily: “Everything is fine!”… That makes it probably the must shockingly bad piece of backup software I have experienced during 40 years… Sorry for the rant. ??

I have used Duplicator several times to create a copy of my site, where I can experiment with complicated things without worry – because it’s just a ‘draft’ – a copy.

Now I wanted to overwrite my ‘real’ WP site with a Duplicator backup. That was not as smooth. It SEEMS to work, but I cannot be sure, because Duplicator gave me this error message, and said “Try again”:

AJAX ERROR! STATUS:403 Forbidden

Please try again an issue has occurred.

Please see the installer-log.txt file for more details. “

I DO have a copy of the “installer-log.txt” file!

The only occurrence of “error” I can find in that is the following. My web-hosting company (Simply.com) says that this error is because Duplicator tries to access something it does not have permissions for. I have replaced sensitive information with ‘[deleted]’:
