Noticed an odd thing on podcasts I’ve published since late May, in that the duration of the podcast isn’t being displayed on the website or added to the feed (Apple Podcasts doesn’t show it in their Preview page). In the past I’ve uploaded the media and verified it with the button next to the URL field and all was fine. The auto generated fields populate and look normal, but the data isn’t displaying on the front end. Wondering if I’m missing a step due to a change or if this is a bug? Thank you.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • I am having the exact same problem. Auto detect doesn’t work, and switching to manual doesn’t work.

@digiarmsdesign I found a podcast RSS feed on your site here: https://gamersinnpodcast.com/feed/podcast/

Is this the podcast RSS feed where the duration information isn’t showing up? If not, what is the feed URL?

@thelanj Reply with the URL of a podcast RSS feed where you’re experiencing the lack of duration tags so we can take a closer look at what’s going on.

We also need to make sure everyone who’s having this problem is using the latest versions of PowerPress.

Hi @shawnogordo, that is one of the feeds experiencing the issue. Seeing it on a few websites. Even checked in with a friend who also seems to be having the issue. Their feed is https://thespawnchunks.com/feed/podcast/.

All websites are running Blubrry PowerPress version 11.9.1.

From what I can see, any episode published after May 20th doesn’t have a duration tag in the RSS feed. As @thelanj mentioned, trying to select the manually specify option doesn’t work either.

Thanks for all of the information so far. It has been passed on to the Blubrry dev team so they can investigate.

Came across this while publishing this afternoon. It correctly autodetects the timestamps, but they do not show in the player. Even if you set them to manual.

I’m seeing the same thing. It’s properly detecting it, but not adding it to the feed for episodes published in the past two weeks.

I looked, and PowerPress is not adding these fields to wp_postmeta anymore. Looks like it started with Powerpress 11.9 (and persists in 11.9.1).

Confirmed “fixed” by rolling back to 11.8.3.

Hopefully this is enough to get a quick fix in place, because this is breaking a few things we rely upon.

    Thanks!

With the 11.9.2 update that launched late yesterday, I can confirm that this is now fixed. In order to correct the past episodes that were missing duration, I had to go into the post and hit update. After that the duration showed up on the webpage and within Apple Podcasts. I can also confirm new episodes are posting correctly. Thank you for the assistance with this! Much appreciated!
