Complete “newbie”, so some forgivness & patience may be required !

Using Dyad-2. JetPack is installed. Created 3 posts with images. Images rotate in (after the delay) and the left & right “move next” arrows work; fine so far, but my posts don’t show – all I get is “Nothing Found”. It was working yesterday morning.

I’ve changed the tags & Categories numerous times. The site is still “temp” and has never been “live”.

I’ve searched the forums and haven’t found anything like the above, so if this has been covered, I apologize.

    Any guidance is appreciated, Thanks.

Thank you Gary for your time, I really appreciate your help trying to sort out my mess.

The test posts post on the home page, newest (#2) first, #1 below & NO “Nothing Found”.

Before I added them I had the “Nothing Found” & (below) the “Ready to publish your first post? Get started here.” message.

The Featured images work on both featured (“Nothing Found”) & the test posts; i.e. show and “move next” on their own or when clicking the “<” or “>” symbols.

The Images are a part of the “featured” post. The post does not show, only the images at the top (the “<” or “>” symbols); the featured posts & images should be below the moving featured images, the test post are but the “real” posts aren’t.

According to the doc for Dyad-1 & 2 I used the tag “featured” on the “Featured” panel and on the featured post, then added the (featured) image(s).

On another support page (I don’t remember where) explaining the “Featured Content”
the tag “slider” (visible in a screenshot of the “Featured Content” panel) was used. I used “slider” in “Featured Content” and as the tag for the featured post.

I don’t know/remember which tag worked (slider or featured). However, I have since used either (stand alone) or both tags with the same result i.e. “Nothing Found”. I have since removed the slider tag & slug.

The only tag now is “featured”.

I removed my 2 test posts and I’m back to “Nothing Found”. (The 3 “real” featured posts worked before, the pictures were just too big and necessitated the movement of the page scroll bar. I wanted 3 in a row (Dyad-1) but I’ll settle for 2+2 (Dyad-2).

All the menu items work: about, blog & page (which I created new & then deleted the “Sample Page”.

At the risk of seeming ungrateful or worse – a jerk, the site works as I’ve described above.

Can you make the site visible so we can see what’s happening?

If you can, this could be an easy issue to resolve.

    If not, I’m afraid I can’t help.

Ok, I’m ready to go live …are you still there ? I removed the 2 test posts so you’ll see “Nothing Found”. I’ll add test posts upon your request.

    Gary Barrett

    (@gary-barrett)

    Yes, I’m still around.

I removed the 2 test posts so you’ll see “Nothing Found”.

Can you clarify that – the problem stated in the opening post was that there was a “nothing found” message on the home page.

Quote: ” my posts don’t show – all I get is “Nothing Found”

Are you saying that the message is gone when additional non-featured posts are published?

    Thread Starter gw22

    (@gw22)

Yes the “Nothing Found” message is gone when I published the test posts.

Also, when I REMOVED the “featured” tag from 2 featured posts, the posts showed with the featured image(s) AND NO “Nothing Found”.

    Gary Barrett

    (@gary-barrett)

Yes the “Nothing Found” message is gone when I published the test posts.

So the problem in the opening post is resolved when additional posts are published – they appear and the “nothing found” message is gone?

If the issue isn’t resolved, please make the site visible.

    Should be “live” now.

Please publish a post that is not tagged as featured.

You should see the 1st post, a 2nd is ready to go.

    Gary Barrett

    (@gary-barrett)

    Excellent, thank you.

I can see the new post, and the “nothing found” message no longer appears – the theme is working as intended.

Can you describe what isn’t now working correctly or isn’t working as you expect it to?

I’m back to using Dyad-1, that is what you see. With Dyad-2 all the same occurs.

Sorry, I don’t understand this comment.

Posts are displaying, and the “nothing found” message is gone.

That was the problem described in the opening post of this thread, and that is no longer happening. Is that correct?

If so, what is currently not working on the site as you expect it to?

I should have the featured posts on a grid line with the image on the left the post on the right then another post to the right of the 1st post. Dyad-1 allows for 3 images and posts accross (up to 6 featured posts according to the demo/doc).

    Gary Barrett

I should have the featured posts on a grid line

I think you’re misunderstanding how the theme works.

Setting a post as featured removes it from the grid section, unless the option to “also display tagged posts outside the Featured Content area” is selected in Customize > Featured Content.

By default, featured posts only display in the slider, not “on a grid line”.

Below the slider then shows regular non-featured posts.

The number of posts in each row below the featured content area is determined by the width of a users browser/screen, it’s not always “3 images and posts across”, it will be 2 for most users.

For example, take a look at the image at the top right of the theme demo at https://wordpress.com/theme/dyad-2

You’ll see that there are 2 posts in each row:

    https://i2.wp.com/theme.files.wordpress.com/2017/02/dyad-2-screenshot2.png?ssl=1&w=735

Everything on your site is working as intended and as shown in the theme demo:

I selected the option to “also display tagged posts outside the Featured Content area” in the Featured Content, and the (featured) posts are there ! Not quite in the checker board pattern of the demo Dyads 1 & 2, but I assume resized images will correct that ? (I’m also aware of browersize.com).

So I’ve been spinning my wheels for 3 days and wasting your time because I somehow unchecked a box ? I feel like an nitwit.

Thanks Gary. If you were here, I’d buy you a beer (or 3) !
