Dynamic photo teasers on homepage

Hello all,
I plan to include three dynamic teasers to posts / pages on the homepage of my theme, each consisting of:
– pic
– title
– teaser text

Is it possible to dynamically include the pics in the homepage, by e.g. referencing to a pic used in a post / page?
How do I do it?
And if possible, is there a way to control/change the pic size before integration into the hp, given the fact that there is much less space for the pic on the hp than in the post or page.
