Simple but yet so powerful option.

Add several dynamic variables we can use in the meta title and meta description. For a brand name/organization/person, you just pick the name from the site name, current year, etc. There are maybe just a few standard that needs to be built in {{brand}} {{currentYear}}. But then it would be amazing if we could add our own custom ones via a hook or filter. Make a code example showing not just a static string but also dynamic strings if the user wants to fetch it via custom fields.

Optimal would be if we could get the picket like in SEO slim schema plugin. But to begin with just code solution and 2 basic default dynamic tags would be good to start with.

    Hi @alriksson,

Thank you for your suggestion. We’re thinking about it as well and it’s on our todo list. In Slim SEO Schema, we bundle the Twig library to utilize the full power of dynamic variables. But in Slim SEO, we might use a custom version of that, to make things more lightweight, but works in most cases. If we do, we’ll add hooks to add more variables for developers to extend.

The hardest part for us right now is the live preview the meta tags when editing a single post. We’ll probably disable the preview it. What do you think?

@rilwis It would be very useful, how far away are you? Yeah make sense we dont need too many and if we need more it can add via hooks for now.

I dont see the extreme important as a first release to have preview of the dynamic variable. It affects the character counts. But there is plenty of tools to messure and check this externally not really needed within wp. Dont focus on it in the release version. Fix it later on rather to push the feature out.

Its not a must its more nice to have. Users can use other preview tools meanwhile.

    Can it be released soon?

We’re working on that. There are a lot of progress right now and it’s working for us. We’re finalizing the UI and the library for replacing dynamic tokens.

    Hi there,

Any progress to insert dynamic data in the meta title ans description ?

    I have tried %year% but it doesn’t work ??

    Tks

    Hi @manuarmand ,

We’ve almost done that. We’re working on the preview part and will try to get it done this week, and then we’ll release it.

Great ! Very very good news.

    Hi @alriksson , @manuarmand

We’ve just finished this version. It’s a big change and needs a lot of test (and also affects a lot of areas in the site). This is a beta version, can you please try them on your production/staging site to see if that works well for you? We’d like to have you test it before releasing.

    Hey !

For me it works perfectly. But I can’t test for real in google SERP of course.

    Tks for your great work
